What's going on along Hwy. 30?

DOTD previously announced in a news release that three new roundabouts will be constructed along Hwy. 30 in the vicinity of Interstate 10 in Gonzales.

According to the release, the roundabouts will be located along Hwy. 30 at the intersections of Interstate 10 westbound, Interstate 10 eastbound and St. Landry Avenue.

“The construction of these roundabouts marks a significant step forward in our ongoing efforts to improve traffic safety and reduce congestion in Ascension Parish,” DOTD Secretary Joe Donahue said in the release. “We are excited to break ground on this project and look forward to the positive impact it will have on the community.”

The traffic signals at the interstate intersections and at Hwy. 30 and Cabela's Parkway will be removed, according to DOTD.

The change is expected to allow traffic to move freely and reduce congestion along the highly-trafficked highway.

Per the release, Barriere Construction has been selected as the contractor for the project, which is estimated to be done by the spring of 2026.
