Davis Sellers topped 40 players representing the 40 football teams in the Shreveport-Bossier area to win the 2021 Fans' Choice preseasonPlayer of the Year voting.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound tight end accumulated 30,327 votes to edge St. Mary’s junior quarterback Adam Parker, who received 28,791 votes.

There were 100,858 votes cast by supporters.

Sellers, who helped Benton to a 12-7 win against Northwood on Thursday, will be presented a backpack with a Raising Cane’s boxed lunch gift card courtesy of Raising Cane’s, the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission and The Times.

“Davis is primed for a breakout season,” Benton coach Reynolds Moore said. “We didn’t do a good job of utilizing his skill set last season, but we feel like this will be a big year for him. He’s a four-year starter on the defensive line for us as well. He can catch, has legit 4.5/4.6 speed and is a devastating blocker.”
